The ContextCapturing Emotions Through Experience

Safe From Harm — a film by Willy Chavarria.

Willy Chavarria sought out MATTE to produce a short fashion film and a subsequent screening and runway show experience for the emotional piece which showcases Chavarria’s AW24 collection. Safe From Harm is a story of real love; of hearts that are delicate and proud; of a generation who knows how to love. Inspired by this idea, this screening at its core explores this tension between togetherness and vastness; familiarity and starkness; light and dark; creating an elevated and unexpected experience.

The Challenge Revelation and Shock

The challenge at hand was to curate an experience that takes the audience by surprise with elements of revelation and shock.
Premiering the AW24 collection and the fashion film with a unique sensory experience that captures the hearts of the audience.

The ApproachBeyond the Traditional

We created a two-part event—a film screening and a runway show, in a cavernous warehouse in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. The debut film is a unique feature in a traditional fashion week structure and we made it a priority to ensure it is highlighted properly through impactful IRL moments. We developed sensory touchpoints and curated scenic elements around the runway to enhance the film's presentation. The brand's DNA seamlessly integrated with the expansive warehouse setting, featuring red lighting, lace, and candles.

The OutcomeCompelling and Memorable Moments

We created a striking and visually captivating film, which lives on the brand channels, as well as bite-sized social deliverables for fully leveraging the film, sustaining the momentum of the event. In addition to the film, MATTE produced a stunning and poignant runway show, with beautiful scenic elements, encapsulating the designer’s vision and driving home the overall messaging of the collection.
